Victorian teachers are striking because the Premier of Victoria broke an election promise (yawn!!) that teachers’ salaries would be brought up to the best in Australia.
Why? Why should Victorian teachers be paid more than other teachers? This is so Victorian. Their state is the smallest except for Tasmania and so they have no real distance problems and I can’t think of another argument for teachers to be paid over and above others in other states.
Do we just dismiss this claim as Victorians thinking they are something special, as usual.
