Sydney, beautiful Sydney

I have often reflected on the sight experienced by sailors in the First Fleet, entering Sydney Harbour – Port Jackson – on January 26 1788. It must have been literally a sight for sore eyes – green and silent with that unique bush silence, no signs of life and so beautiful.
And 100 years ago a different sight as ships entered a busy Harbour to celebrate the start of the Navy’s history in Australia.
But the experience for the fleet of ships from all round the world, entering Sydney Harbour to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Australian Navy surely must be without parallel.
Beautiful Sydney Harbour, the Opera House, The Bridge and wonderful scenes of homes rising out of the blue waters and climbing green slopes; walkways, the Gardens.
A sight to be loved by all who live here and visit.
